England
and Scotland are among the 16 teams competing in the Netherlands as the 2017
edition of tournament kicked-off on Sunday before a sell-out crowd.
The
competition comes around once every four years, and Germany are the holders
following their 2013 triumph in Sweden.
Euro
2017 will be the largest Women's European Championship yet as it has been
expanded to include 16 teams, with the top two teams from each group of four
progressing to the quarter-finals.
According
to the full draws , Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway would be playing in
Group A, Germany, Sweden, Russia, Italy in Group B, France, Iceland, Austria,
Switzerland would lock horns in Group C while Group D has England, Scotland,
Spain, Portugal.
Hosts
Netherlands got their Women's Euro 2017 campaign off to a successful start with
a deserved win over Norway.
Liverpool's
Shanice van de Sanden scored the only goal, heading in Lieke Martens' pin-point
cross from close range after 66 minutes.
In
the second game in Group A, Denmark defeated Belgium 1-0. Sanne Troelsgaard
headed in the only goal in Doetinchem after Pernille Harder's free-kick was
tipped on to the crossbar.
The
group stage concludes on 27 July, before the quarter-finals on 29-30 July, the
semi-finals on 3 August and the final on 6 August.
