According to him, the range of products made in Nigeria but enjoying big patronage in other African countries include cement, toiletries, noodles,beauty products,dairy products,textiles,pharmaceuticals,foot wears, plastic chairs, among many others made locally in the country. He said:”If you go to most countries in the West African region, even up to Central Africa, you will be amazed to find out that a good number of manufactured products sold in their markets are products proudly made in Nigeria.</div>

He said the party got marginal success in the election because ballot papers were thumb-printed and result sheets filled by PDP members. The election whistle blower explained that Department of State Services (DSS) operatives, led by a woman officer, stormed Anisulowo’s hotel and arrested the PDP henchmen but they were released within three hours because “you know we (PDP) were in government at that time”.</div>

Aliyu Momoh. “But the materials were later released after the officers received ‘order from above’.” He said the Fayose administration received the refund of the N5.2 billion spent on Ado-Ifaki highway by the Kayode Fayemi administration. Aluko said the governor initially denied but it was confirmed by former President Goodluck Jonathan during the PDP presidential campaign rally.</div>

Finance Commissioner Toyin Ojo told DSS interrogators about the state’s finances, including the N5.2 billion refunded on theAdo-Ifaki Road carried out by Fayemi.</div>

“It was the governor and former Ekiti Assembly factional Speaker Dele Olugbemi who barged into a meeting I was holding with some PDP leaders. Olugbemi and Fayose barged into the meeting venue. Olugbemi is a liar. He had lied against Fayose. He lied against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the PDP. He is working for the money and appointment he just received from Fayose. I did not create a scene at the venue because hefty men were stationed around and my wife was afraid of what could happen. The governor held my clothes that I should not talk when I wanted to talk. I feared for my wife who later disappeared from the scene and I did not know her whereabouts. They almost attacked me when I went to Channels Television but it was policemen led by the CP who saved me after being holed up there for about three hours. I played safe because of my wife and to avoid the scenario that played out when I went to Channels Television to grant my first interview.”</div>

“I am not doing this because I was denied appointment. Fayose replied me by saying ‘don’t worry, Ekiti people are easy to deceive because by the time you buy them ponmo (cow skin) and booli (roasted plantain), you have stolen their hearts’. It was there that our crisis started. The issue of Chief of Staff was secondary. Fayose derailed from our blueprint for the development of Ekiti. He cancelled the monthly allowances for the aged. He imposed taxes on primary school pupils, among his other anti-people policies but when I reminded him, he told me that Ekiti people are gullible. I need the prayer of Nigerians so that I will not fall prey to the evil machinations of those planning to kill me by all means because of the truth I told Nigerians.”</div>

President Buhari Moves to Compel MDAs and Industries to Host Data Locally

<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: white; font-family: Times, Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size: 13px;">The Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has made known the plans of President Muhammadu Buhari to stop the country’s data from being hosted overseas as soon as indigenous data centres have enough capacity locally to handle data generated within Nigeria. He made this known during a visit to Rack centre, a Tier 3 data centre in Lagos. According to Punch, he said “the President will compel the Ministries, Departments and Agencies to host locally, if the local capacity could be met within a year from now.”</span><br style="font-size: 13px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" /><br style="font-size: 13px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" /><span style="font-size: 13px;">He further explained that the local content policy would be implemented without challenge as the policy already specified that for data centre facilities available in the country, government agencies were duty bound to patronise them. “It is easy, we have a local content policy that says that for every data centre facility available in Nigeria, industries and government agencies must patronise them and more especially when we have a facility like Rack Centre that can compete with any other in any part of the world,” the minister said. Shittu who was impressed by the world class infrastructure at Rack Centre said the president was passionate about local data hosting and there was no logic behind hosting abroad if these facilities are available in Nigeria. “As soon as we have capacity, all our data will be hosted within. We just have to be sure that we have capacity. “It is not logical for the Nigerian government or the private sector to keep patronising the foreign facilities. The plan we have agreed on is that once we have capacity; we will only resort to buying outside the shores only if the capacity is not there.”</span><br style="font-size: 13px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" /><br style="font-size: 13px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;" /><span style="font-size: 13px;">Mr Ayotunde Coker, the Managing Director of Rack Centre said it could compete with the best in the world and that it was working towards meeting local demand. He further sated that the data centre co-location provider had doubled its capacity from 119 racks to 255 racks within seven months. “We intend to build that capacity. We have the blueprint and we have proved that it can be done by our doubling the capacity of the centre within just seven months ahead of time and within the budget. The capacity can be increased again to 600 racks within another seven months once it is identified that the market exists for the expansion.” Punch also reported that Shittu said the Buhari-led government was committed to creating an enabling environment for the private sector to thrive. “As a government, we need to encourage all private investors that are investing in the Nigerian economy in a bid to ensure that Information Technology firms grow to satisfactory levels and contribute their fair share to the Gross Domestic Product.” </span></span></span><br />

With the Super Eagles failing to qualify for the 2017 African Cup of Nations and the lack of stability in the team – constant change of coach and captain as well as the not too impressive performance of different sporting teams representing the country at different global events in recent times, it is obvious that the year 2016 has not started well for Nigerian sports at all. The situation has been compounded by the refusal or inability of the National Sports Commission to make funds available to the country’s sporting contingents to different competitions in recent times. This may well be a sign of austere times. It is no longer news that the Federal Government has been finding it difficult to navigate through the country’s economic woes which have been fueled by the free fall in the global price of oil and worsening exchange rate. What may be news is that the effect of these challenges on sports is huge. Recently, the Nigerian Table Tennis team had to sponsor itself to a major tournament in Malaysia because the Nigerian Tables Tennis Federation and the NSC said there was no money to sponsor the team. While Segun Toriola, Haruna Quadri and others paid from their pickets, Funke Oshonaike angrily withdrew from the tournament. There is no better evidence to prove that the country has been on auto pilot for some months now. This sort of challenge reminds one of our recent past where sports was given maximum attention by a serious government which was committed to youth empowerment and national integration. The London Olympics of 2012 was this disgraceful outing for Team Nigeria. After a few days of the event, the then Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi had to fly to to London where he gave touching speech at the camp of the athletes. The athletes were inspired by his moving speech and they promised to up their game. Unfortunately, the entire Team Nigeria still came home without a single medal. That was a major scandal the country could not stomach at all. Angered by this outcome, the Federal Government summoned a major conference of all sports stakeholders from across the country and beyond. Government wanted to hear from everyone who mattered. Hundreds of stakeholders gathered at the State House Banquet Hall (now Conference Centre) to dialogue with the President. Unlike other leaders who will just attend the opening ceremony of such event, make a fantastic speech and leave, The Federal Government dedicated a whole day to the summit and dialogued with the stakeholders for over 7 hours. Asked questions, sought clarifications and demonstrated to everyone present on that day the willingness and political will to implement all the decisions and recommendations put forward. The Federal government was told to take all sporting issues personal and grant administrators and coaches direct access to the Presidency. The Federal Government was told to release funds to beef up infrastructure for training and ensure early preparation for all sporting tournaments as well as provision of world class training camps and facilities. Most importantly, the Government was told to re-introduce the reward system and ensure athletes are rewarded, celebrated and recognized for any achievements recorded in sports in order to encourage others and give them the motivation that Nigeria is worth dying for. The discussants agreed that the Presidential handshake policy introduced by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2000 with the Super Falcons team which impressed at the World Cup in that year, had gone a long way to dampen the morale of athletes across all sports in the country. The Federal Government implemented all these recommendations religiously and within months, our athletes started bringing home trophies and medals from across Africa and beyond. Blessing Okagbare was among the athletes that made the country proud. She won silver and bronze medals World Athletic Championships in Moscow. She won silver medal in the long jump and came third in the women’s 200 metres race. The Federal Government rewarded Blessing Okagbare and her coach with cash gifts and national honor. The Government also held a special dinner for both Falconets and U-17 male football sides which both conquered the continent in their respective categories. That same U-17 side also conquered the world in far away Dubai. Nigeria won the African Cup of Nations for the first time in 19 years in South Africa in February, 2013. Nigeria ended up with 11 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze medals at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, finishing 8th in the overall ranking. Federal government did not fail to extend the same gesture to all the individuals and teams who made the country proud in different sporting competitions. Former England international, Ambassador John Fashanu did not mince words when he granted an interview to newsmen and praised extraordinary feat in sports. It is on record that the Super Eagles won Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in South Africa under this administration. The Super Eagles equaled the best record Nigeria ever had at the World Cup in Brazil . The Nations U-17 team won FIFA U-17 World Cup in UAE. The female U-20 team won silver in their own World Cup. Nigeria had the best performance at the Commonwealth Games and the World Athletics Championship. I cannot mention the whole achievements because they are many. Their latest attempt is the introduction and proposal of what is known as the Cattle Grazing Act which will give the Fulani herdsmen the right to claim other peoples land all over the country and which will empower them by law to create their own settlements and communities in the territory of others.</div>

Worse still under that law the government will be compelled to fund those settlements and put all that they need in terms of infrastructure in place for them. That is why our Minister of Agriculture is now talking about importing Brazilian grass for the Fulani herdsmen and their cattle.</div>
