The Federal Executive Council through the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has dissociate itself from Acting President, Osibanjo's comment, in which he said that the Presidency has power to retain Magu as EFCC boss without Senate’s confirmation.
According to Premium Times report on wednesday after the FEC meetings, Mr Malami said FEC never discussed the continued stay and re-nomination of Ibrahim Magu as EFCC chairman.
In twice occassion, the Nigerian Senate had rejected Mr. Magu’s nomination as EFCC chairman, officially basing their decisions on a report compiled by the State Security Service, SSS, accusing Mr. Magu of impropriety; although many Nigerians believe the non-confirmation was because many of the senators are being investigated or prosecuted by the EFCC.
NAIJ.com report that the Senate on Tuesday July 4 criticised Mr. Osinbajo for allegedly questioning its constitutional authority to confirm the nomination of appointees by the executive arm.
