“A car with four passengers plunged into Melee river near Bobby Camp few minutes ago,” Lagos State Emergency Management Agency said on Saturday night.
“The river spot is the most turbulent spot in the whole of West Africa. Search and rescue going.”
An eyewitness told Newsroom the incident happened some minutes past 8pm.
“A car with three family members plunged into Lagoon near Onikan, husband rescued, searches on for wife and child,” the police tweeted.

The incident comes barely days after a “sleepy” driver plunged a 59-passenger luxury bus into a canal along Ikorodu Road. Three people died in that tragedy while 23 others sustained injuries.
