A boy beating to death by his dad and step mother

So this young and innocent child was rushed to FMC Yenagoa dead. This is as a result of the beatings and ill treatment from his dad and step mom. And my questions since morning are as follows.:
1) What grave offence did this young child commit?
2) Are there no other punishments for young children growing up.?
3) Were they no neighbors who may have heard the boy shout or cry? 
4) These wounds are obviously not new, didn't any teacher notice at school?
5) Why bother give birth to a child, when he will die by your hands?
These questions are many more have been racing through my mind but the deed has already been done. May his soul rest in peace. Please we should be alert and report any act of domestic violence to the appropriate authorities.
