Its so clear that 2016 is a year of album release as most young hit maker in the music industry show their strength and also quench the long of their fans wanting more. Here is our analysis on those albums that was release by Nigeria artist as published by Naij.com . 


1. Yemi Alade – Mama Africa

Details: The Effyzzie Music star features an impressive array of A-lists including Selebobo, P-Square, DJ Arafat, Flavour, Sauti Sol, Sarkodie and Rotimi Keys.

Production was by GospelOnDBeATZ, DJ Arafat, Masterkraft, BeatsByEnzo, Mr Chidoo, Philkeyz, Rotimi Keys and Philkeyz

Stand out tracks:

Nagode is impressive and so is Mama Africa, Africa and Ferrari. But overall, the album Mama Africa didn’t deliver on all the levels expected given her run of form prior to the album’s release. Still, it serves its audience nicely.

2. Adekunle Gold – Gold

Details: The YBNL star features nobody on this debut album, nobody except Simi! A pretty daring move considering his genre of music is a hard-sell in this clime. But what’s impressive is he’s managed to pull it off successfully receiving an excellent feedback from the audience.

Production was by Oscar, Sleekamo, Masterkraft, Pheelz, Seyikeyz and B Banks.

Stand out tracks:

Pick Up, Friend Zone, No Forget, Work, Ariwo Ko.

3. Patoranking – God Over Everything

Details: Foston Muzik star Patoranking features Olamide, Sarkodie, Wizkid, Phyno, KWAM 1 and Elephant Man on this and the reception has been fairly good so far.

Production was by EKelly, Slick Mo, DaPiano, Jazzwad, Sarz, GospelOnDBeatz, Major Bangz and Dr Amir.

Stand out tracks: No Kissing Baby, Daniella Whine and This Kind Luv.

4. Reekado Banks – Spotlight

Details: Mavin Records served us Spotlight from Reekado Banks in September 2016 and the fans have been raving ever since it dropped. Reekado Banks features Dr. SID, Banky W, Korede Bello, Sean Tizze and Falz on this among others.


Production was by Don Jazzy, Baby Fresh and Altims.

Stand out tracks: Change, Dangote, Problem, Gbagbe, Biggy Man, Ola Oluwa and Baby Oku.

5. CDQ – Quality

Details: General Records artiste CDQ dropped Quality in August 2016 and the artistry and musicianship is unmistakable. CDQ is the underdog if indigenous hip hop in Nigeria and the good thing about this is it takes away a lot of pressure from him which allows creativity peak. He collaborates with Banky W, Reminisce, Olamide, Ice Prince, Davido, Vector, Cayanna, Kenny Black, Gabanabwoy, Skales and Masterkraft on this.

Production was entirely by Masterkraft and the creativity on the project is just what the title says – quality!


Stand out tracks: Odikwa, Abo, Gbemisaya, Shanawole, FCFS, Ferrari.

6. Reminisce – El Hadj

Les Roses Rouges founder and star artist Reminisce released the album in late August 2016 and it features collaborations from Mr Eazi, Solidstar, 2baba, Terry Apala, Oladips, Sojay, 9ice, Olamide and Ice Prince. Production was by Sarz, Sossick, TSpize, Pheelz, TMXO, Camo Blaiz, Tyce and PBanks.

Stand out tracks: 1.4.D.R, I Remember, Ori, Ibadi, Konsignment, I.E.N.B.G and Nobody Knows.

7. Lil Kesh – YAGI

Just before leaving YBL to set up  his personal movement, Lil Kesh dropped YAGI in 2016 and it features collaborations with Viktoh, Adekunle Gold, Davido, Chinko Ekun, Ycee, Phyno, Olamide and Patoranking. Production was by Shizzi, Young John and Pheelz.

Stand out tracks: Cause Trouble, Is It Because I Love You, Problem Child and Ibile.

8. Tiwa Savage – RED

Fresh off her break as she delivered baby Jamil in 2015, Tiwa Savage dropped RED in the closing parts of 2015 but dropped a deluxe version in 2016 which is why we are rating the material here. She features Olamide, Iceberg Slim, D’Prince, Reekado Banks, 2baba, Don Jazzy and Wizkid on it. Production was by Altims, Spellz, Baby Fresh, P2J and Don Jazzy.

Stand out tracks: If I Start To Talk, My Darling, Standing Ovation and Bad.

9. Kiss Daniel – New Era

The G-Worldwide artiste dropped New Era in May 2016 and quite boldly he went to serve his first without any collaboration. Production was by Masterkraft, Jay Sleek, Young John, Beatburx, Kimbeatz and DJ Coublon.

Stand out tracks: Jombo, Mama, Good Time, Laye, New King and Woju.

So here we have it, we will do a whole new review when the year ends with others like Olamide, Phyno and a few others serving their 2016 projects.
