Governor Akunwunmi Ambode of Lagos commissioned the light-up project on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway on Tuesday, April 12.
The light-up project which has been going on for a while in Lagos state is geared toward “lighting up the nook and crannies of Lagos”.
The reason for the light-up project is not unconnected to the spate of robbery and other crimes that affected the city during the first six months that Ambode was inaugurated as the governor of the state.
While the lighting-up of Lagos coupled with the reinforcement provided to security operatives has reduced crime in the city, the project is also beautifying the city.
Governor Ambode has pledged that all areas in the state will be illuminated before the end of the year and with the newest commissioning of expressway project, Lagosians can’t wait to see this manifest.
Also present were are Senator Olamilekan Adeola and the executive secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr. AbdulRazaq Balogun.
